Filtering routes out of the routing table isn’t something you do much of on a regular network but when you need to you have to. Usually these things are used when you need a quick dirty fix and our CCIE candidate Andrew Carr presents a good example of such a case.

The issue:
When you buy a VxBlock from VCE they ask you to fill in what they call an LCS – Logical Configuration Survey. This is a large spreadsheet full of macros designed to capture a lot of network, compute and storage information so that when the VxBlock lands on the floor of your datacentre it is as close to production ready as possible. The LCS has a lot of default options in and we took the decision to stay close to the defaults where possible to make life easier for VCE support should we have any issues
